Steel Bending
Why do you think steel is bent? Is it only for a minor cause? Or does it serve a more major issue? The process of steel bending is quite self-explanatory and if you can’t wrap your head around it, steel bending is a phase in the manufacturing process and can produce a wide variety of shapes like V shapes, U shapes, and even other types of channels.
Akin to the other processes in manufacturing, steel bending has quite a few processes, too and they include:
- Incremental Bending
- Hot Bending
- Induction Bending
- Rolling
- Rotary-Draw Bending
The essence of these different types of bending lies on the product or the material you need – and we here at Ohio Contract Manufacturing Specialists can help you with the steel bending and the forming processes for your product. The steel bending experts and professionals we have are all experienced and skilled in the craft; and although skill and expertise are not needed, it is imperative to complement the machinery.
That alone, it’s already evident that we care for our craft more than how other companies do – and we’ll always be happy to serve!
Incremental Bending
If the metallic material or component that you need to produce requires to have a larger-than-the-usual type of radii, incremental bending would be the best option you have not only because of its structure and how the process is done, but also because incremental steel bending is done in low-volume batches.
Because of this specialization, the incremental bending procedure is quite self-explanatory; it is the process where only a small portion of the product is being bent and formed. In addition to that, the area of the deformation is what’s moving the workpiece.
Hot Bending
How metal bending is seen in movies is actually how other manufacturers do it. Hot bending, from its term, is the process where the area that is to be bent is heated directly from a furnace or a flame, then bent.
Usually, heat or hot bending is used when repairing steel and metal parts and components.
Induction Bending
Akin to how hot bending is made, induction bending is the same idea – but using electrical conductors and coils. This type of bending uses an electric coil for the area that is to be bent. Afterward, that area is sent to a rotary draw-like structure and cooled with water directly.
The cooling is what hardens it and what makes it sturdier. When do manufacturers use induction bending? – When only a tiny or a really small portion of the metal or the steel needs to be bent and molded.
Rolling
As opposed to the usual bending methods, rolling or also known as cold bending, is the method of bending where a strip of metal is sent through different sets of stands or rollers that perform the increment of the bend.
This goes on continuously until the cross-section of the metal’s bend is obtained and if the desired shape and form is achieved.
Rotary-Draw Bending
Last but most definitely not the least is the rotary-draw bending. What this bending method does is it clamps to be kept in place and it rotates the needed area to be bent around a die. Until the figure, the shape, or the overall metal desire is formed, the process is repeated and is continuous.
There are a lot of manufacturers who can perform and operate a wide range of steel bending processes and procedures but only with us here at Ohio Contract Manufacturing Specialists can get you the results you desire and you need.
We consider the steel bending process to be the most important and the most relevant part of the entire metal fabrication process – why? Simply because of the fact that it’s the phase where:
- It’s going to be initially shaped and formed
- The aesthetic is going to depend on
- It’ll take the shape of how the company or the manufacturer wants it to be
High Quality of Processes
All the processes we do and perform undergo strict assessment and evaluation on a regular basis. This is to ensure that each and every step or phase is done correctly and efficiently.
